AAC Training
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices provide a voice to those who may have difficulties with using vocal speech for communication to express wants and needs. In order to maximize the effectiveness of a speech device, it is crucial that caretakers, school staff, and families support a child as he or she is learning to use a speech generating device (SGD). Other communication supports such as sign language and/or Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) can and should be implemented when needed; however, consistent opportunities to use the speech device should be provided for your child to learn the power of using HIS or HER VOICE!
